Silverscreen™ exposes harmful airborne gases and organisms to a very specific spectrum of UV light and a patented titanium diox-ide media. This combination causes the organisms to oxidize. This process destroys the molecular structure, rendering organisms like bacteria, viruses and more, into nothing more than simple, harmless molecules. What's more, the silverscreen™ system is non-toxic and produces no ozone.
By applying UV light to titanium dioxide (TiO2), a chemical reaction occurs. This reaction is referred to as Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO). UV light can cause the TiO2 media to degrade and begin to lose its effectiveness – in some cases as quickly as 90 days. Vornado’s silverscreen™ technology uses a patented coating process to maintain the life of the TiO2 screen for five years or more with no degradation in performance.
