- These are, quite simply, the ideal mattresses for anyone who prefers a soft, yet supportive bed and/or is trying to better utilize their space. An organic futon can fold into a couch or lounger, which makes them perfect for studios, small apartments, multipurpose rooms, or a healthy and comfy guest bed. And our Organic Cotton, Latex & Wool Futon is the best organic futon to use in a sofa set-up - the organic latex core reduces creasing where the futon folds; creases can make futons less comfortable when slept on.
- All Soaring Heart organic futons are handmade from only the highest quality organic materials using time honored techniques practiced, honed and perfected over the past 30 years. You can expect your new organic futon to last you anywhere from eight to fifteen years, depending upon how well you maintain it. Futons require occasional flipping so that they wear evenly.
- At full, original loft, the layers of cotton, latex and organic wool that make up each Soaring Heart futon measure 24” tall, give or take, only compressing down to the more familiar seven inches after passing through the skilled hands of our craftspeople. Once slept on for a while, your new organic futon will settle down to six or seven inches.

- Care Instructions: We recommend all futons and shikibutons be kept off the floor. Latex and innerspring mattress need to be kept on slats. Not keeping your latex or innerspring mattress on a slatted frame or foundation will void its warranty. To prevent body moisture from getting into your bed (which can prematurely compress and harden the natural fibers and make your bed lumpy and uncomfortable), always sleep with one of our all natural organic cotton pads . Don't use a poly-blend pad. Make sure your organic futon or shikibuton wears evenly (avoiding body impressions) by flipping and rotating it regularly, so you end up sleeping on all different parts of the bed equally. We recommend doing this once a week for the first month, then once every other week thereafter. A couple times a year, on a sunny day, put your futon, shikibuton, or topper outside in the sun for an hour or two on each side. It's like giving your bed a natural dry-cleaning. The sun fluffs and revitalizes the fibers, discourages microbial growth, and evaporates any residual moisture. Does not apply to latex - latex can be deteriorated by sunlight. Even if you lovingly follow all the steps listed above, there may come a day when your natural bed doesn't feel quite as comfortable as it originally did.
