As the newest addition to Miele's affordable S2 series, the lava grey S2121 Capri is an ideal choice for someone who has bare floors and low pile carpet or area rugs. Packaged with an air driven turbo brush and a smooth floor brush, the Carpi at $399 perfectly fills the gap between the S2120 Olympus at $299 that includes a combination floor tool and the S2120 Delpi at $499 that includes a power brush. The turbo brush's air-driven brush roller effectively loosens dirt and picks up debris from low or cut pile carpets leaving a nice finish. The turbo brush is also lightweight, energy efficient and very easy to use. Furthermore, the S2121 Capri offers superior user convenience with its lightweight yet durable design, quiet operation, large capacity dust bags and high quality AirClean™ filtration system.

Pluses:
Respectable filtration maintains healthy indoor air quality. The Super Air Clean filter is easy to change and is electro-statically charged to retain a majority of dust particles. If you want the best filtration, the active HEPA filter can be purchased separately.
Though not a certified sealed system, the S2’s Exclusive CleanAir System has been thoroughly researched, developed and tested by Miele's quality control laboratories to ensure it effectively captures and retains dust, dirt and other indoor air pollutants, guaranteeing it is one of the most effective and hygienic methods of removing particulate matter from the home.
The Capri's powerful 1200 watt motor and 6 suction settings paired with a turbo brush, deluxe floor brush and accessory tools provides a powerful solution to cleaning highly polished smooth floors, delicate fiber rugs, low to medium cut pile carpeting or a mixed combination.
Very low noise output for a pleasurable vacuuming experience. The S2's feature a new sound insulation layer that makes them particularly quiet especially when used on the silence setting.
The Capri is a mid-size canister vacuum with a lightweight design weighing only 11 lbs. This makes it very easy to maneuver around the house and carry up or down stairs.
Miele makes the easiest vacuums to assemble, change floor tools, put on accessory tools, remove the wand, etc. thanks to quick release buttons and snap-into-place construction.
The air driven turbo brush is more gentle on carpets and rugs than a motorized power brush. It offers brush roll agitation powered by the air flow of the vacuum to help lift dirt for a clean finish. This tool works best on cut pile carpets or rugs and does a better job at removing dirt and hair than a combination Carpet/Floor tool.
The Parquet floor brush has two soft rollers for an easy gliding action and genuine horsehair bristles that sweep gently over the floor surface, brushing dust particles out of cracks.
S2’s use the same large 4.76 qt. (approx. 1 gallon) AirClean dust bags as the more expensive S5 series. We love these bags because they hold so much and do not need to be replaced until they are truly stuffed full. They are some of the best quality bags we have tested. They are 9 layers thick for filtration quality and durability, have excellent air flow for efficient use, and spring-loaded self-sealing covers for no-mess disposal.
The handy dust bag change indicator tells you when the bag is full and needs to be replaced, eliminating guessing games and loss of suction due to an overly full bag.
The Capri is an unbelievable value for a Miele canister vacuum cleaner. They are not luxury vacuums and are designed to be a budget series so they lack some of the extra features and added construction perks found on the S4 and S5 models, but do not lack in quality, performance, durability or integrity.
Minuses:
The lack of a direct connect wand and electric hose prevents the Capri from being upgraded to accommodate one of Miele's electric power brushes. Since the Capri uses a turbo brush as the carpet tool, it is not the best vacuum choice for someone who has wall to wall carpeting or medium to high pile rugs. The turbo brush is powered by air flow and does not provide the deep cleaning and brush roll agitation of an electric power brush. If your cleaning needs require a power brush but you need a budget price, we suggest the S2121 Delphi or S2181 Titan.
The S2’s are not a certified sealed system like the S4 and S5 series. Though they do not increase the particles in the air, it does not reduce the particle count of the room as is the case with Miele's certified sealed system vacuum cleaners.
Integrated PVC bumper guards are not included on the Capri, so be careful as you zoom around corners and furniture.
The Capri does not have integrated accessory tool storage. The tools are kept on the wand with a clip-on tool caddy which we found to occasionally get in the way and the tools are more likely to fall off and get lost then when they are kept under the hood.
Miele's crevice tool is not as long as we would have liked. It only offers a 4" reach where some competitors offer a full size 8" crevice tool.
Miele's dusting brush has the industry standard round design which we have found clogs easily when used on high suction because the bristles are sucked inwards. A triangular dusting brush proves to be a more efficient design because it does not become clogged by its bristles.
Summary:
The Capri is Miele’s budget friendly canister vacuum packaged with a turbo brush and smooth floor brush. The S2121 Capri at $399 bridges the gap between the S2120 Olympus with a combination floor tool at $299 and the S2120 Delphi with a power brush at $499. The Capri is recommended for homes with a mix of low or cut pile carpet, rugs and smooth flooring.
The Capri does not come standard with a HEPA filter and is not a certified sealed system, however because Miele would never produce a vacuum cleaner that was not up to par you can be sure its filtration is of good quality and your indoor air will remain clean and fresh as you vacuum. Also, if you are able to spend a little more, we offer the option to purchase the Capri with Miele’s active HEPA filter to ensure 0 particles are exhausted into the air as you clean.
The S2121 Capri vacuum cleaner represents Miele's quality and durability, designed to last an average of 20 years. Through quality engineering Miele has cut costs on the S2 vacuums by streamlining the design to use less parts (NOT less quality parts) and leaving out unnecessary extras and luxury features.
