How it Works: Manuka Honey has an antibacterial activity primarily due to the presence of hydrogen peroxide which is formed in a slow-release manner by the enzyme glucose oxidase. Manuka Honey can be diluted and still destroy bacteria very efficiently. It also contains an additional antibacterial compound found only in honey produced from the Leptospermum plant which is known as the Unique Manuka Factor or UMF. In addition, Manuka Honey is considered to be antimicrobial which means that it can destroy any infectious microorganisms whether they are bacterial, viral or fungal. All Honeymark products use organic, active Manuka Honey UMF 16+. The honey is indigenous to New Zealand which is then imported and blended into the cream and lotions.
Explanation of ingredients:
Undecylenic Acid: An organic unsaturated fatty acid derived from natural castor bean oil. Used as an antifungal agent.
SD 40 Alcohol: Derived from grain. Used as an antibacterial agent.
Manuka Honey (16+): Derived from the nectar of the flowers that grow on the Manuka plant, indigenous to New Zealand. Contains natural antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic properties.
Hydroxymethyl Cellulose: A gelling and thickening agent derived from cellulose.
Essential Oil of Lavender: Used as an anti-fungal agent.
Essential Oil of Lime: Used as an anti-fungal agent.
Essential Oil of Lemon: Used as an anti-fungal agent.
Essential Oil of Ylang: Used as an anti-fungal agent.
Thyme: An essential oil with anti-fungal properties.
Tea Tree Oil: Used as an anti-fungal agent.
Care of:
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, flush with water. Keep out of reach of children, except under adult supervision. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a poison control center right away.
Product Usage:
Clean or wash the affected area and dry thoroughly. Apply a thin layer of the product over the affected area twice daily (morning and night) or as directed by a doctor. For athlete's foot and ringworm, use daily for 4 weeks; for jock itch, use daily for 2 weeks. If condition persists longer, consult a doctor.
