Silk is an excellent choice of material for towels because it is lightweight, absorbent and extremely soft to the touch. Naturally hypoallergenic, silk is also a healthy choice that is inhospitable to dust mites. Kumi Kookoon’s Silk Towels are comprised of 18 essential amino acids, which are said to help rejuvenate hair and skin. The soft texture of the silk loops provide an overall gentler surface.
Kookoon uses grade “A” raw mulberry silk fibers, the finest silk, produced by silkworms that are fed only pure mulberry leaves and weaves it together to make all of the pile loops on their towels. The pure silk loops are held together with 100% cotton for extra durability. The combination of the silk and cotton results in a natural colored towel that is thinner but equally as absorbent as a thick Turkish cotton towel.
Machine wash cold. Do not bleach. Tumble dry on low.

Silk towels are a bit of a luxury, but oh are they nice. Silk terry makes a thin towel but they do a good job absorbing water. These towels have a cotton base for durability and the terry is 100% pure silk. One of the nice things about silk is it contains 18 natural amino acids to help provide nutrients to counter the effects of aging to the skin. Now here's a towel with value added! These towels also get softer and more absorbent with repeated washings. I did find that they are a bit more delicate than standard cotton towels, as I pulled a big snag in mine when I was not careful putting them away. These towels also have a nice neutral color of the natural silk. They are not dyed or colored in any way making them perfect for sensitive skin. The Kumi Kookoon silk towels make a great gift idea as they are not an item everyone will splurge on, however they are a useful gift and everyone will love their luscious velvety lightweight feel.
