The new Winix WDH871 70-Pint dehumidifier comes with many of the enhancements one would hope for in a capable portable dehumidifier such as a built-in pump with provided hose, auto-restart and a hardy and handsome design. And best of all, the Winix provides all of this without hurting your pocket book.
Pluses:
Provided with low temperature capabilities and can operate in temperatures as low as 36 degrees and the included automatic defrost allows reliable performance in air temperatures below 65 degrees.
The built-in pump that it comes with along with the included 18 foot hose solves any drainage concerns regarding location as it will drive the water up to 15 feet above ground.
With its energy star rated 3.8 pints of moisture removal per kilowatt hour of electricity used one's concern regarding the affect on the electric bill will be lightened.
The quality construction and attractive design will yield years of dependable dehumidification.
The Microban® technology now standard with this model secures the prevention of bacteria development on the surfaces of the collection bucket.
The auto restart function is very important to have to eliminate the uncertainty of the outcome of a power failure. The WDH871 will turn itself back on at the last selected setting.
Minuses:
If there is one thing we could fine that does not necessarily speak highly of this model is that it is not particularly quiet. Some may consider it noisy yet we are certain that most will consider that its moisture reduction will compensate this one issue.
A small concern may be that the location of the bucket is in the rear and since its removal is required in order to access the washable filter some may find this a bit more difficult than on some of the other models.
It will not display the actual humidity in the room yet a digital hygrometer/thermometer can be purchased below.
Summary:
The Winix dehumidifiers have quickly gained excellent ratings and reviews amongst our testing team and consumers because of its solid performance and fine-looking design.
Overall, the Winix Dehumidifier is the complete package as far as being a reliable solution to control excess moisture and humidity levels in a basement up to 1400 square feet. The recurring issue of what to do with all the water removed from the air is resolved by the built-in pump and included 18 foot hose. All that is required is to locate the end of the hose to wherever you desire the water to drain whether it is upstairs, through a window or any area above the floor. Finally, we are certain you will not be discouraged with its sharp appearance, energy star rating, and better performing and eco-friendly R410A refrigerant.
