How it Works:Why would you need one of these Full Spectrum Lighting boxes? There are an estimated 35 million people who suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and related light disorders. SAD is a condition characterized by depression, withdrawal, sadness and gloom that occurs during the fall and winter months due to light deprivation. Brief morning exposure to the HappyLight can help reverse the negative effects of this light deprivation. This natural bright light stimulates the pineal gland which suppresses the secretion of melatonin, a sleep hormone commonly overproduced by those with SAD. The light blocks ultra violet and electromagnetic radiation and provides soothing glare free light.
Product Usage:
Recommended daily exposure to the HappyLight, at a distance of 36" from the light, is approximately 2 hours. At a distance of 24" it is approximately 1 hour and at a distance of 12" it is approximately half hour.

Pros: quiet, reliable
Bought this for a family member, but he no longer could use it. So I hung on the wall by where I read in the afternoons. In winter, as days shorten I often get sleepy reading...so turn this on more to... (see entire review)
