How it Works:
Hot water extraction is a great method for deep-cleaning carpets and upholstery. Hot, water based cleaning solution is sprayed, under low pressure as not to damage the carpets), into the carpet pile to loosen up dirt and grime. The dirty solution is then extracted with a powerful vacuum to a holding tank for the dirt-laden water. This process when performed properly will leave the carpet fibers much cleaner than just simply shampooing and vacuuming.
Care of:
To void warranty, only use Thermax cleaning solutions (available to purchase below) and never use solvent based products. After use, always thoroughly rinse and clean both recovery and solution tanks. Do not operate solution pump dry.
Product Usage:
With solution tank full and all hoses appropriately attached, activate pump switch to the "On" position, and then activate the vacuum switch to the "On" position. Start in area of the room opposite from where you want to end. Place wand about 4 feet in front of you and then activate the solution spray trigger on wand. Laying down an even spray of solution, pull the wand back towards you slowly. Release the spray trigger and move the wand slowly forward over the same area just cleaned to recover additional solution left behind. Repeat depending on degree of carpet soiling. For best results, work in approximately 4 foot wide sections and always be sure to remove as much solution from the carpet as possible as this will minimize drying time.

We had a very interesting test for the Thermax CP3 carpet cleaner. My in-laws have a motor home where their two cats had been living in with their corresponding hair and odors. My wife’s niece planned on sleeping in the motor home one night which resulted with her having to leave immediately due to her allergies and asthma acting up (almost to the point we initially thought we might need to take her to the emergency room). She had already taken some allergy medicine and her inhaler but to no avail. The next day I decided to vacuum the carpet and use the CP3 to clean the carpeted floor, area rugs, and upholstery in their motor home. The experience of cleaning with the CP3 was that it was easy to set-up and attach and remove the cleaning pieces due to their quick disconnect fittings. Once you became familiar with where and how the different hoses and attachments connected it was fairly simple.
It was a bit awkward with the hose, wand and cleaning head as far as maneuvering them along with the body of the carpet cleaner. However, the way it cleaned was very satisfactory. It removed the stains and dirt while lifting the nap of the carpet leaving a clean look, feel, and smell. The only minus I would have is the fact that the recovery tank cover fit rather loose and could shift rather easily. Also, it was rather noisy but is to be expected for a vacuum with so much suction. The rugs were damp after cleaning them and did require several hours to dry but were not soaking wet like some carpet cleaners.
The real surprise would come that night when my wife’s niece attempted to sleep in the motor home once again. The results were very different from the night before and she was able to sleep through the night and did not need her inhaler or any allergy medicine. Evidently, the CP3 was able to remove the hair, dander, and any other allergens that had bothered her the night before.
Summary:
In summary, while the Thermax CP3 is not the prettiest carpet cleaner to look at and the smallest on the market it does do what it is suppose to do which is clean your carpet without the need for heavy cleaning solutions. The heating function is a real plus enabling it to maintain a hot cleaning solution at all times. The smaller upholstery attachment is excellent for tight areas on your floors, your car, and any upholstered items.
