Care of:
When storing, always allow the steam mop to cool completely for at least 30 minutes before emptying the boiler. Use of the SteamFast steam mop on unsealed hard floor surfaces is not recommended. Care should also be taken when steaming sealed hardwood floors, as prolonged exposure to steam in a single spot may cause damage and discoloration. To avoid this, keep the steam mop in constant motion on these surfaces and place it back on the Resting Pad when idle. It is recommended to test an isolated area of the surface to be cleaned before proceeding.

When it came to cleaning the hardwood floors in my home, I was getting tired of taking out the mop and bucket and sloshing around chemicals and dirty water. Plus, I always had to wait some time for the floors to get dry and even longer for the lingering chemical smell from the household floor cleaner I was using to dissipate. So when the SteamFast SF-140 came in, I was excited to put it to the test. The SteamFast didn't disappoint and got the job done on my floors in a fraction of the time without any chemicals.
Pluses:
I liked how I had full control when turning the steam mop on and off with the convenient foot pedal switch on the steam head. This is different to some steam mops we've seen where they automatically turn on when it's plugged in (and with no on and off button).
The steam being emitted was fairly dry, didn't soak the floors and left them almost instantly dry, which is a great bonus for a steam mop at this valuable a price.
The steam mop was lightweight enough where I had little issue moving it back and forth. Occasionally, I found myself bending over to push the mop forward so I wish it had an ergonomic pole to stop myself from doing this.
The microfiber pad had a convenient flap at the end which made it easy to take off the steam head. Just hold your foot onto the flap and pull the steam mop away to remove!
The steam head wasn't too bulky and I was able to easily reach under tables and get underneath cabinets that were set about 6" high.
The pads collected so much dirt, grime and pet hair that it was actually embarrassing how dirty my floors had become. All this time I thought my floors were clean after using my mop and bucket! With the SteamFast, in just a matter of minutes my hardwood floors had this new look and feel.
The SteamFast SF-140 came with two washable microfiber pads so I was able to use one on the kitchen floor and the other in the bathroom. After done cleaning, I simply popped them in the wash so they would be clean and ready to use for next time.
With the use of the included measuring cup, I was able to properly fill the tank without any mess or overflowing. If one loses this piece, a funnel or small pitcher will do. However, there is more of a risk of overfilling since it doesn't have the correct water capacity measurement.
Minuses:
The cord isn't as durable and thick compared to some of our other steam mops. However, it has a nice length of 19 feet.
The quality of the parts and overall construction could be a bit better.
The steam mop had some difficulty reaching the grout between the bathroom tiles. Yet the steam mop did a good job shining up the tiles without any excess water.
Summary:
The SteamFast doesn't boast the durable construction and design that our HAAN steam mops have, but it did perform well and cleaned up my standard hardwood floors. It emitted a constant, dry steam that removed dirt, lots of dust, pet hair and some coffee and juice spills with ease. It did have some trouble removing some deeper scuff marks. If you need to clean larger kitchens or dens you may quickly run out of steam since it will only operate for around 10 - 12 minutes. However, if you don't mind waiting around 5 minutes for it to cool and a few more to heat up, cleaning larger areas can be done. Just make sure to rest the mop on the included heating/cool pad to reduce the risk of scalding the floor! Overall, the SteamFast SF-140 is great for quick cleaning in apartments, condos and smaller areas and is easy on the wallet, the environment and your health.
