Care of:
It is recommended to replace the Ionic Silver Cube once a year or at the beginning of every humidifying season.

It is recommended to clean water container and the water tank every 2 weeks. It is recommended cleaning the disc packet with a decalcifier every 4 weeks. Remove the remaining water from the container. Then pour in decalcifier (mix ratio to water according to manufacturer’s instructions) up to the upper edge of the float in the container. Seal the appliance and leave it running in "Clean" mode depending on the extent of the calcination. Note: The ventilator does not run in "Clean" mode; only the disc packet is turned in the decalcifying fluid and thus ideal decalcified, without air being blown into the room.

The Stadler Form Tom is an advanced household humidifier which not only humidifies the air but will also remove those larger dust, dirt, pollen and hair particles which tend to cause allergies and discomfort. It is a great fit for a living room, den, bedroom or office space up to 1,000 square feet.

Pluses:

We placed the Tom in a living room which was extremely dry due to winter conditions and forced heat. The room also contained much cat dander and dust. Overall, the Tom successfully improved the indoor air quality due to its ability to humidify and remove many of these large allergen particles in the room. We feel confident that the Tom will filter up to 50% of small to medium-sized particles from the air and ultimately make the room a much more comfortable space to live in.
Tom worked sufficiently and delivered a good amount of moisture rather quickly on the high fan speed. We set the integrated hygrostat to keep the humidity level around 45%. In about 30 minutes the humidity level reading on the digital display went from 39% to 45%. In no time you could sense and feel that the cool invisible moisture attacked the dry uncomfortable air.
As mentioned earlier, the Tom is equipped with an accurate hygrometer and digital humidistat. The digital humidistat did not waiver and held up well to the readings an external hygrometer was stating.
Very easy to maintain with its washable pre-filters filters and self-cleaning cycle and requires no expensive replacement filters or wicks. There are intake air filters on both sides of the air washer and 1 outflow "silver" filter, all of which can easily be washed and cleaned. The discs inside are simply cleaned by placing a decalcifier, such as the EZ Cal cleaner we offer, in the container and then running in clean mode. We like to think that the Tom turns itself into its own dishwasher! However, if you need to access the discs, we found them very accessible and easy to handle.
Is equipped with an Ionic Silver Cube for anti-bacterial protection of the water. The cube releases silver ions into the reservoir, inhibiting the growth of bacteria and mold in the water thus releasing only clean and healthy moisture into the air.
Because of its soft-touch controls and simple digital display we found the Tom to be user-friendly. The display clearly shows in a faint blue color the actual humidity in the room, the mode being used, the speed level and the timer selection. The settings are chosen with easy to understand soft-touch controls (only a light tap on the controls is needed). For those sensitive to light while sleeping, the control panel can be completely dimmed when in sleep mode.
The Tom features a sturdy and tough construction for years of use. It has a smooth white finish, elegant design and relatively compact design that will fit neatly in the corner of a room.

Minuses:

Will not effectively clean smaller particles in the air compared to having a separate air purifier.
The fan on the highest speed can be a bit loud for some. However, the lower fan speed is very quiet while the other two speeds are much more tolerable.
We wished it was equipped with side handles since it is bothersome to move around, especially when the tank is filled with water.
The tank is rather large and can be tricky and awkward when filling. It may be easiest to fill up in a bathtub.
It is a bit pricier compared to our other humidifier models but it does include all the bells and whistles to get the job done effectively day in and day out.

Summary:

We were impressed with how well the Tom humidified the air and brought much needed relief to an uncomfortable, stuffy area. At the same time it was able to trap some cat hair and dust, which is a wonderful added benefit. The disc assembly inside is connected to a motor which continuously rotates them through water at the bottom of the tank. As air is drawn into the Air Washer it passes over the rotating discs. Essentially the discs and water trap the dirt and dust particles from the air which are then captured in the base of the unit. As a result, the humidified air being returned to your room is much cleaner than the air that originally entered the Air Washer. Over the course of a few days we checked the base of the unit to see what it collected and sure enough there was dirt, dust and hair. The water tank was easy to take out and we were able to simply wash the collected particles down the drain. The Tom is a great choice if you need to humidify a dry space but would like to go a step further with achieving a healthier environment by also removing common dust and dirt particles. However, for homes which tend to gather lots of dust, dander and pollen or those who have serious allergy, asthma or respiratory issues, the Tom Air Washer won't take the place of a true HEPA air purifier.

The Tom is equipped with outstanding features for added versatility and value. The built-in hygrostat and manual mode allow you to achieve your pre-selected level of room humidity. Once selected the machine will add moisture to the room as needed and achieve your desired humidity level. The digital humidistat is a great way to confidently know that Tom is performing at its best and delivering the right amount of moisture. One can also choose the Auto Mode, which will keep the humidity level at a satisfying 45%. The Sleep mode is the best option while sleeping since it will dim the control panel and keep the air humidity at 45% while running on its quietest fan speed. If you wish to have the unit automatically shut down after a specific amount of time, Tom is equipped with a 1 – 8 hour programmable timer. This is a good option if you wish to run the unit for 8 hours through the night and have it automatically shut off in the morning when you leave for the day. There is a continuous mode option if you want the unit to constantly pump out moisture and clean the air. Just be aware that this could potentially cause the room to become too saturated and increase the risk of mold growth. Regardless of what mode you choose, Tom does all the work for you in keeping the room healthy and comfortable!
