How it Works:
Consuming just 23 watts of power, the ZON personal air purifier utilizes a tightly coiled paper filter that offers far more surface area than any other air purifier's technology, allowing it to more easily capture tiny airborne contaminants. Plus, it operates almost silently, produces no ozone, and creates no noticeable draft.
A small ionizer brush creates an electric field that charges all particles that enter the system.
It’s four small fans move a high volume of air without creating an annoying breeze or loud noise.
The pre-filter catches larger airborne particles such as dust and hair.
Charged particles adhere to the oppositely charged paper filter surface like a magnet.
The carbon mesh post filter removes light (mild) gases, chemicals and odors.

Recommended Filter Replacement/Cleaning Schedule
Permanent Pre-filter: vacuum or wash every 3 months or as needed
Carbon Mesh Post Filter: replace every 3 months
Paper Particle Filter: vacuum at 6 months, replace at 12 months
NOTE: filter indicator will turn from green to amber after 5 months of actual run time, and will turn red after 6 months of actual run time. For the user only running their air cleaner 8 hours a day, it will take approximately 15 months before it turns amber and 18 months before it turns red.

Pluses:
Excellent filtration. During our testing we were truly amazed to see our particle counter registering zero at times with almost perfect filtration performance of 99.8% efficiency on low fan speed at a distance of two feet; perfect to suite your needs at your workspace, home office or personal leisure space.
Extremely quiet. You can hardly hear the air purifier when it is on the low setting which happens to be the most effective performance level. Two pluses in one!
Minimal use of electricity keeps costs down and conserves energy. The air purifier consumes just 23 watts of power and is 2.5 times more efficient than Energy Star requirements.
No annoying breeze. The ZON air purifier produces no noticeable air draft on the low fan speeds and will not annoy you or give you a chill while you work at your desk. The higher fan speeds do produce a light air draft which is similar to a fan on low and offers a light breeze which can be appreciated on warmer days.
Perfect size for desktop use. Its compact design makes it easy to use in your home or at work, and at only 3 ½ pounds is a cinch to carry from place to place or to travel with. Its small foot print does not require a lot of space and will fit nicely on a desktop, stand or tabletop surface.
Clean, fresh air delivered to you. By using the ZON air purifier at your desk while working in the office or at home, you can be assured the air you are breathing is clean regardless of room size. Or, place it on a nightstand for fresh, clean breathing air while you sleep; great for nighttime allergy sufferers.
Color changing LED filter life indicator light is located on the front of the unit and offers a simple way to know when it is time to replace or clean the filters. The indicator is easy to see, simple to understand and is timed based on actual run time which guarantees you will get the appropriate usage out of the filters. The indicator illuminates green when the filters are new and clean. It turns amber when the filters have been in use for 5 months and turns red at 6 months when it is time for the filter to be cleaned or replaced.
Changing filters takes less than 60 seconds. The design of the air purifier makes access to the filters very easy and does not require tools.
Eco-friendly cleanable filter. We are very glad that the paper particle filter can be vacuumed after 6 months of use extending its life span to 1 year and saving you money. The filters will last even longer if you only run the air purifier periodically. If you use the air purifier at work for 8 hours a day the filter will not need to be cleaned until 18 months of use and replaced at 3 years of use. The paper filter is also 100% recyclable.
Minuses:
Minimal gas, odor & chemical filtration. Although we are happy that Humanscale attempted to address the air quality concern of chemicals, gases and odor, the included carbon post filter is just a foam mesh filter permeated with carbon dust. This type of carbon filter is not going to be the most effective filter to absorb chemicals, gases or odors if there is a significant amount of these pollutants present in the air.
Summary:
We are very pleased and excited about the ZON personal air purifier and believe it is one of our most important product introductions in recent years. It is the first personal air purifier we have found that performs to HEPA standards and maintains a quiet sound level.
