These soft and supple, 230 thread-count 100% cotton dust mite covers offer good protection at a great value. With a small pore size of 8.2 microns they are proven to protect against dust mites. These quality cotton dust mite covers are lightweight, breathable and easy to put on featuring a strong yet discrete nylon zipper. The mattress covers have dual zippers and fitted corners for an easy, secure fit.

Pluses:
Our Home Essentials dust mite covers have been lab tested to ensure the average pore size is dust mite proof (dust mite barrier fabric needs to be less than 10 microns)

Minuses:
Pore size is not as small as some of the other dust mite barrier fabric we carry, but pore size is still small enough to be a proven barrier to dust mites
Is not a barrier to allergens associated with dust mites such as their broken body parts and feces. A 6 micron or smaller pore size is needed to be an effective barrier to these micro allergens.
As with all woven dust mite covers, these will reduce in efficiency over time as wear and repeated washing will naturally increase the pore size of the fabric. Wash only when necessary to extend the life of these covers.
Summary:
We were immediately impressed with feel of these 100% cotton covers. They are soft, supple and well constructed. Though not organic, they are made from 100% cotton for total breathability and are an effective barrier against dust mites with a pore size of 8.2 microns. However, this pore size is not small enough to be an effective barrier to other micro allergens such as dust mite feces and pet dander. Also, as with most woven fabrics the pore size will increase with wear and washings. With the pore size of 8.2 microns these will reduce in their efficiency to block dust mites quicker than some of our woven fabrics with smaller pore sizes. These are however, protected by a nice 5 year warranty. The mattress covers come in a variety of mattress depths so you can get the perfect fit. They are machine washable and slightly oversized to account for shrinkage. We recommend washing these dust mite covers prior to first use for best fit.
