Pluses:
Everyone always loves a product that requires minimal maintenance. This allergen reducer has no filters to replace and the permanent filter only needs to be vacuumed 2-3 times per year.
We liked how the air purifier can be set up in two different positions – horizontal or vertical.
The small compact designs makes this air purifier very convenient for rooms with out a lot of space. It is also lightweight so it can be placed on a desktop or shelf.
The 3 speeds are actually truly quiet which is what we want for a small compact air purifier.
We are happy to confirm the manufacturers claim that the HEPA grade permanent filter effectively removes 99% of airborne particles down to 3 microns.
Consumer friendly products are always good in our books. This air purifier does not cost anything to maintain and it does not create extra waste to add to the land fills
Minuses:
The efficiency of a permanent filter will degrade over time.
The filter is HEPA-grade and will not filter the air as effectively as a true HEPA filter. The HEPA-grade filter removes 99% of particles down to 3 microns in size where a true HEPA filter can remove 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns in size.
The air purifier is for the removal of airborne particles only, it is not equipped to remove odors, gases, or chemicals.
Summary:
We were pleasantly pleased with this compact Hamilton Beach air purifier. The unit performed very well and indeed removed 99% of airborne particles down to 3 microns. We were impressed by the quietness of all three speeds and with its small foot print and versatile design it will fit nicely just about anywhere. An excellent value choice for someone who is interested in the removal of airborne particles only.
