This canister vacuum cleaner is a great choice for someone who wants a complete vacuum cleaning package at a very affordable price. For one low price you get all the floor tools and accessories you need for easy and convenient complete cleaning of carpets, rugs, bare floors, furniture and upholstery.
Pluses:
Good quality HEPA exhaust filter captures 98% of dust and other particles, expelling only clean air back into the room. This vacuum is not a sealed system and some particles do escape the vacuum, but not enough to significantly decrease the quality of the indoor air.
Very easy to use with user-friendly finger tip controls for power on/off, brush roll on/off and a secondary suction control. Primary suction control is a large variable dial on the canister.
Variable suction control lets you choose the optimum suction power for your carpets, rugs, bare floors and upholstery.
Large rubber coated rear wheels are gentle on your floors and provide easy maneuverability on a variety of floor surfaces. Canister is also lightweight making it easy to move to carry.
Full size power brush offer strong suction, powerful brush roll agitation and is self propelled for extra easy maneuvering.
Power Paw handheld turbo brush makes cleaning stairs and furniture very easy and adds value to this vacuum cleaner package.
Onboard tools are attached to the wand for easy access when you need them. Power Paw is not stored onboard.
The vacuum is easy to assemble with very easy access to the filter and air basket for filter and bag changes.
Bag change indicator keeps track of when the bag is full and needs to be replaced so you do not have keep checking it.
Automatic cord rewind neatly stores the long 21 ft. cord which offers plenty of length while vacuuming.
This vacuum is a great value! It comes with a full size power brush, bare floor brush, and handheld turbo brush all for one low price.
Minuses:
The wand does not adjust in height so it may not be comfortable for people who are short or very tall.
No bumper guards on canister or power brush, so be careful as you zoom around corners and furniture.
No carpet height adjustment on the power brush. Power brush has one height setting designed as a one-size-fits-all, which works fine but isn’t always a best fit.
One year warranty is shorter than the majority of canister vacuums we carry, and leads us to speculate this vacuum may not last as long as some of the other brands we carry.
Summary:
The Airextreme 6500A is very easy to use with variable suction control on the canister as well as finger tip brush roll controls and an additional suction adjustment on the handle. The power brush works great on the majority of carpets and even accommodates small rugs thanks to the variable suction adjustment. Changing the power brush to the bare floor brush requires minimal effort and the large bare floor brush covers a large area in a short amount of time. With just a push of a button to remove the wand, the Power Paw handheld turbo brush can be attached and you are ready to clean your stairs or furniture. The crevice nozzle and dusting brush are stored on the wand and are ready to use as needed, just be careful not to accidentally knock them off. The vacuum has good HEPA filtration and it is not too noisy. The one thing we really missed on this vacuum is a telescopic wand for height adjustment. It was a bit awkward not being able to adjust the height of the wand to fit your ideal operating position. Overall the Airextreme 6500A canister vacuum is a great value buy and gets thumbs up from us for affordability and cleaning performance!
