The Danby Premiere dehumidifiers are equipped with a removable air filter to help reduce dust/dirt particles from the air. To maintain maximum operating efficiency, the filter must be checked and cleaned regularly every two weeks depending on use and indoor air quality. Never operate the unit without the air filter in place. The filter can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or with water (should be completely dry when placed back into the unit)
Product Usage:
The fan runs continuously on this unit. The compressor only will turn off either when the bucket is full or when the set humidity has been reached. There is a two-fold benefit from the fan always running which is first, the humidistat will detect an increase in humidity gradually due to the constant flow of air from the room which will prevent the compressor from turning on pre-maturely. Second, the fan will both circulate the air throughout the room to enhance the mixing of the humidity in the air and also assist with the drying of any residual moisture inside the unit to prevent bacteria and mold. Finally, the concern over electricity used is minor since the fan running is similar to the wattage from a light bulb and it is the compressor that uses the majority of the electricity.

The Danby DDR6009REE is one of our quietest and most popular dehumidifiers that will fit nicely in basements or other living areas where mold and musty odors exist. The Danby is simple to operate, easily portable and includes all the right features needed for the best in humidity control.
Pluses:
Low temperature operation down to 41° and auto defrost to prevent the machine from freezing up and damage allows this unit to effectively do the job in basements and other cooler environments.
Features quiet operation and is suitable for finished basements and other living areas.
Built-in humidistat does a desirable job in keeping the relative humidity at your preferred level. The digital display will also present the actual humidity and air temperature so you can constantly keep an eye on the room conditions.
Have the option to hook up a hose for continuous drainage into a floor drain. The unit conveniently includes a 7' drainage hose and the hook up is located 11" from the ground for easy drainage via gravity. Overall, we found the continuous drainage option easy to hook up and operate.
There is also the option to remove the excess water by emptying the front loading bucket manually (acceptable 14.2 pint capacity) or by hooking up an optional condensate pump for automatic removal.
Features auto restart which will automatically turn the unit back on to the original settings chosen following a power outage.
Removable washable filter helps to reduce dust and dirt particles from the surrounding environment.
Fully portable when moving from room to room: rolls easily on 4 casters and can be easily lifted using the built-in hand grips on the side.
Minuses:
It does not come with a built in pump but we do offer the option to purchase one.
One minor drawback is that one has to remove the water bucket in order to access the washable air filter.
