Blueair came out with a special air purifier to address chemicals, gases, and odors for a medium to large room called the Medical Pro. It is one of their quietest models and besides performing very well at removing allergens and fine particulates, it scored extremely well at clearing the air of chemicals, gases, and odors.
Pluses:
The VOC filter with 3.9 lbs of carbon allows the Blueair Medical to address multiple gases, VOCs and strong odors like cigarette smoke.
Patented HEPASilent Technology offers excellent removal of airborne particles and allergens such as dust, mold spores, pet dander and bacteria.
Its high air flow is great for quick cleaning and the lower, almost silent fan speeds provide the ideal operation level for continuous day or night use when you are in the room.
Blueair's award winning design is not only stylish and offers excellent performance, it also allows for easy filter changes that take less than a minute of your time.
Quality construction, built to last with all major parts made from high-quality galvanized steel, not plastic – backed by 5 year extended warranty.
Blueair is an environmental friendly manufacture producing their products with minimum impact on the natural world; polypropylene filters breakdown into water and carbon dioxide when burned, no chemical additives are used in the filters, the units are made from steel which does not off-gas chemicals and can be recycled.
Minuses:
The HEPASilent/VOC Filter needs to be changed every 6 months, which is much more frequent than other filters that last 2-3 years.
Though it has only one filter to replace, the filter is expensive, costing $129.95
It is not very mobile considering it is without casters or a carrying handle and is fairly heavy at around 38 pounds.
Summary:
A perfect addition to the Blueair line, the Blueair Medical air purifiers offer an excellent solution for complete air cleaning of allergens, smoke, and VOCs. Standard with a VOC filter it has the ability to remove heavy gases and cigarette smoke, and still capture up to 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 microns. The Blueair Medical's VOC filter makes it the Blueair model of choice for areas polluted by VOCs and cigarette or cigar smoke. It would be nice if the filters lasted longer than 6 months, especially when you look at the cost of the replacement filters, but in this case, the higher price is a direct result of the high quality filtration. We've concluded the Blueair Medical represents the quietest, most complete air purifier for mid-size rooms up to 360 square feet.
