Great Machine by: Jersey (Colorado Springs, Colorado) "This machine so far has met all my expectations. We moved into a new house that had been painted/had new flooring put in and in the rooms that have the purifier there is no detectable odor. This is good for me due to multiple chemical sensitivities. We will wait and see how the machines hold up-we currently have three. I like that the filters are supposed..."

The AllerAir 5000 Exec and Vocarb air purifiers are great general purpose air cleaners that offer robust filtration of irritating airborne particles and chemicals, gases and odors. They may not be the best looking air purifiers on the market, but you will be very satisfied by their ability to clean and freshen your indoor air.
Pluses:
Very good particle filtration: AllerAir's medical-grade HEPA filters have the ability to remove 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns and though the actual particle removal on the first air pass is less than 99.97% due to some air bypass, its particle filtration is still first rate.
Excellent removal of chemicals, gases and VOCs: using a substantial about of deep bedded activated carbon the AllerAir 5000 Exec and Vocarb air purifiers offer chemical, gas and odor control that is noticeable and long lasting. The Vocarb blend is especially well suited for controlling VOC's and off-gassing from new furniture, carpets and paint.
Large room coverage: when used on high and turbo fan speeds the AllerAir 5000 air purifiers can quickly clean the air in a large bedroom or living area.
Great Quality: AllerAir uses high quality materials and filtration media to build their air purifiers. They also assemble and source their materials and parts in North American to provide excellent quality control.
Excellent Warranty: AllerAir backs their air purifiers with a 10 year limited warranty that covers the motor for 10 years and parts for 5 years. This is one of the best warranties in the industry and you can be confident your AllerAir air purifier will last for years.
Low electricity consumption: AllerAir's motor consumes the same wattage (95 watts) of power as a single 100 watt light bulb. That is only pennies to operate these air purifiers 24 hours a day.
Great value: The AllerAir 5000 Exec and Vocarb air purifiers deliver high quality, well-rounded filtration at a reasonable price. They are well made, designed to last and come with a warranty that protects your investment. Maintenance costs are reasonable when considering how long the filters last and the air cleaning efficiency they provide.
Minuses:
Not the quietest air purifier we carry: Reviewers agreed the lower speeds are suitable for use when people are in the room but while on the higher speeds and specifically turbo it is quite loud. Keep in mind that when used on the lower speed settings the room coverage of the air purifier is less than stated.
No filter change indicator: It is up to you to remember how long a filter has been in use and check them periodically to make sure you change each filters when needed. Saturated filters reduce the efficiency of the air purifier.
Not very attractive: It has been said the AllerAir's resemble large trash cans, but aesthetics aside, these air purifiers are designed to clean and when you are suffering from allergies or chemical sensitivities you care more about filtration than looks.
Summary:
We recommend the AllerAir 5000 air purifiers for those whose primary need is strong gas, chemical, and odor removal. Both the AllerAir 5000 Exec and AllerAir 5000 Vocarb are great general purpose air purifiers addressing allergy concerns as well airborne chemicals and gases. The special carbon blend used in the AllerAir 5000 Vocarb air purifier makes it the preferred choice for removing VOCs and chemical off-gassing from a new home or new furniture, carpet or paint.
